At last, a new camera!

!!!!!

Some of you who have known me for a while know my history with digital cameras. Heck, some of you know my history with disposable cameras, including the summer of 2002 where I easily blew $200 on developing one disposable camera after another at Walmart, of all places.

That was the winning argument in convincing my mom to go half and half with me on purchasing my first digital camera, a Sony DSC-P31 for $200 that October.
For my first digital camera, this was everything I thought I could want. 2MP was about all we could afford, and 5x digital zoom. After all, I didn't really label myself as a photographer nor really even think it would become a hobby. I just wanted it so I could have some control over pictures I took of myself and take pictures where I wouldn't have a double chin. Basically, I just wanted it for myspace photos before myspace existed. LOL.

The summer of 2003 changed all that, when Zack and I went out exploring abandoned places such as Rocky Point Amusement Park, Ladd School, and many other fun & exciting places.
It wasn't like the Sony wasn't without its limitations, however. Vegetation looked a little too radioactive green. Everything in existence looked like it had an unusually high cyan coloration. All could be fixed in photoshop. And 5x digital zoom ROTS.

But...it was what I could afford. And I took some wonderful shots that I would have loved to sell as prints, but at a 2megapixel resolution...the photos looked good only for the web. Too grainy for print. Too obvious that I was too cheap to get a *real* camera.

The breaking point came in 2004 when I had a chance to see John Kerry 2 days before the election. Knowing the digital zoom was crap, I figured it wouldn't be so bad....until I got stuck 200 feet back in a crowd and the zoom was all I had.

Can you see Kerry? He's wearing a yellow coat.

Then I moved closer, maybe 100 feet?

And then I got even closer, maybe 10 feet or so, but at the last moment someone hit my arm and the only shot I had left came out blurry! Love affair with the DSC-P31 was officially over after this day.

Then my 21st birthday was coming, and my mom wanted to buy me a new camera since she knew I wanted one so badly. With a budget of $500, we went camera hunting. I didn't really know what I wanted except that the camera had to have a decent macro setting and an optical, not digital, zoom. We ended up settling on the Kodak DX7590 - 5MP, 10x optical and 3x digital zoom.
And from the start, I was pretty happy with this camera! It took a little more getting used to, some pictures didn't come out quite right, but one of the first places I went to experiment with photography was the Jewett City Flea Market.

And the following week, NYC & Central Park, where The Gates exhibition was going on.

New camera total !!!

And all was well in the land, for the most part. Of course I quickly discovered my Kodak's limitations (low light, blech!!!!) but I figured these were things I could deal with until the day I would ever be able to afford a digital SLR. Note, that day still hasn't come, but all will be revealed shortly.

My Kodak served me well; in its first year I'd taken well over 5000 photos. Working as a journalist will do that though; it was common to take 300+ pictures at a single event, and some days I would cover 3 events. Unfortunately, things never worked out with that newspaper even though I tried working there twice, and I ended up working on the web team of Yankee Retail. And I went back to exploring abandoned places, like Holy Land USA, Fort Wetherill, and a couple other places. The camera continued to serve me well and went to Egypt with me. And so did the Sony DSC-P31, but that did not return.

This photo of the Africano Cafe in the Cairo Mall was pretty disappointing. Like I said, my Kodak hated low light with a passion. 2007 ended up becoming the beginning of the end for the Kodak--it reached 10,000 pictures in January, and then in September things started acting a little funny. Pictures that I had taken right-side up were coming out up-side down. The camera couldn't orient itself. It began to lag. Finally the menu button broke and only worked in one direction. It stayed that way for a couple weeks and then failed altogether. I almost bought the Nikon D40 from Best Buy that Christmas...but decided against it, which was good because I got laid off in January.

So all through 2008, I've taken every photo with a broken camera which has been more than a pain in the behind. In September of this year, something happened to the lens and there's a permanent smudge in the photos when pointing at direct light. (That happened during my trip to Canada).

So...Christmas came and went and I joked that all I wanted was a new camera, blah blah blah. I didn't really expect it to happen any time in the near future. Insert sad Megan here.

Then last Sunday my grandmother called. "Rather than pay you a little bit of money here and there for computer lessons," she said "I'm going to let you get that camera you want...and pick out one for me too while you're at it." (Her camera, an Olympus something or other, has been completely broken since 2005 but it treated her well since 1998.)

So it took three days of really shopping around, comparing features and consumer reviews, but I finally picked my new camera, and it's NOT the Nikon D40 or D60. It's a Canon Rebel XS. Now the waiting for it to ship is going to be the hardest part!

Again, with a budget of $500--I got this one from Amazon for $445. And I picked out an Olympus Stylus 120 35mm camera for my grandmother (she didn't want digital.) I also picked up an IR filter, camera case and some other stuff, but I'm paying for that myself.

New...camera...!!!!! In exchange for computer lessons for the rest of my life (nevermind hers! lol)....I'd say that's a good deal! Computer lesson tomorrow. :)

Creatively not having it lately

So the flea market is done (for now) and the auction is tonight. I'm still going, since the owners of the flea market will hopefully be selling me a kicking metal detector (as long as they remember to bring it). I used to have one of those crappy Radio Shack ones that didn't even work...proof that it didn't work was scouring the soccer field in 1997 when I lost a sterling silver ring, and didn't find it...yet the ring turned up 2 months later completely unharmed, and was found on the soccer field.

Gahhh. Sold that sucker metal detector at the next yardsale. This one is going to be a bit more expensive but with metal detectors, you really do get what someone else initially paid for ;).

Anyway, I spent this week jumping through post office hoops. Because if my carpal tunnel/ulnar neuropathy history they sent me for a physical on my dime. More like 1,760 dimes. Since when did simple physicals get so expensive? I could go into the details of how lame the physical was considering what I paid, but the doctor was nice and I got my clearance that the postal nurse required.

But I'll keep jumping through those hoops because if I flub this, I'm not going to have very nice things to say about myself, and the next time I go digging for bottles I'd probably bury myself in a ditch. LOL.

Next hoop to jump through: 90-minute driving test tomorrow in New London at 9:30. I'll admit I'm pretty nervous about it, sure I consider myself a very good driver, but I'll be the first to admit my driving scares everyone in my car. Just because I know what I'm doing doesn't mean others have much faith in me ;). And so what if I hit the curb every now and then ;). I'm kidding but I'm still nervous...and now I'm sick to boot. Either allergies or a cold, but I can't taste anything or breathe through my nose.

Maybe I over-did the digging this week. There was one sunny day (Tuesday) where I checked out a possible maybe on a new place to dig, and dug for 4 hours at the place I was digging last week. I was sneezing and coughing up all kinds of dirt, so I'd imagine that's what started it. I had some finds but didn't really take many pictures... I still need to clean & photograph last week's digs & finds too.

Tuesday night we raided the neighbor's front lawn because they had a bunch of boxes of free stuff, like old 45's and toys and stuff. Mom and I tore into those 45's like no tomorrow and we scored some awesome finds, like the Safety Dance. And there was much screaming when I found my favorite 80's song (below)...a little warped, but still plays perfect!

And then once Mom and I were done sorting out the warped records, we broke into our own 45's that we probably haven't played in 8 years but it was still tons of fun :).

One day we went to the Mystic Aquarium :).

We had such a lovely day. My grandparents took me (they have a lifetime membership so we get to go for free) and the weather was perfect too. :)

Edit: I just realized the title of this post has nothing to do with it. Mainly I was going to gripe about how little I've been inspired to write or make jewelry lately but I don't feel like it. lol. I sat in the flea market from 9-4 and everything I wrote, I ended up crossing out. I have to make a zine or something. Or just catch up in my journal. I'm getting so wrapped up in the thrill of doing stuff that I'm forgetting to write it all down.

Monday

So here's an update: I got the post office job!

And I went digging the day after I had food poisoning, I guess that was Wednesday but my mind is a bit fuzzy. I have to admit I was lazy the last part of last week and still haven't cleaned up the bottles that were dug that day. Some interesting ones popped out of the ground. :D

Today I'm moving out of the flea market. Maybe I'll head out to dig afterwards...I have several new places to check out from talking to people over the past week. Even Nick gave me a spot to go check out! This, coming from someone who I would think hates to get dirty...and last week you all should have seen me covered in dirt up to my ears...lol

Pictures coming eventually. I'm so busy today because moving out of the flea market will take a couple hours to pack up and leave...at the same time I get to leave some stuff there for the next people who are inhabiting the spot. I need some coffee...it's going to be a long day.

Spring's here! Get out of the house!

Remember when I said I was going to sew my socks to my steering wheel cover? Well here's the almost finished product. It's a little too sloppy at the moment but that cover is very hard to sew through, and any work I'm going to do on it from here on has to be done with the cover on the wheel. It does need some extra stitches, just to make it neat. (It's so comfy!) What else can you see in the car? 2-liter of Mt. Dew...bag for hunting sea glass and other things (I keep shovels and digging tools in it...lol)...and an Etsy order sitting there.
The Etsy order was for Number 18--the steampunk brooch I made the night before ITema laid me off. It was the first of its kind that I made so I was a little attached to it, but when I got this convo from Fyrecreek, it made it so worth it!

I wanted to let you know the broach arrived yesterday. I saw in your profile that this is the first one you made in this style. That was actually the deciding factor for me when I bought it. I had made a list of all the many things available that I liked the most, and then went through reading profiles to help make a decision on which I was going to get this time around. The Irish stamp and the cool little hand is what put this one on my list to begin with. But your profile mentioned it was your first, and I think no one's first piece should stay in the storefront for very long. Keep making them, you're very good.

Etsy has been good to me, even though I actually stepped back and took a breather from it for about a week. I need to post some new stuff tonight, actually I need to make some new stuff too. I will be moving into the last of the rooms downstairs soon so we're cleaning and re-arranging and it doesn't leave much time for jewelry making.

I've been loving the beautiful weather we've had all week. Granted, I guess we could use some rain as things have been catching on fire like crazy because everything is so dried up. For those of you who knew me in middle school (which is like ...no one who reads this blog...) the 3-story chicken coop across the street from my old house caught fire yesterday. Crazy, because 10 years ago Patrick and I were wandering around the woods over there (big bottle dump, and a "floating door"...I'll explain that some other time maybe)...and we just discovered this huge chicken coop that people were living in. Curtains and ACs in the windows.

I guess no one was living there now, as the newspaper said today that it was abandoned. Or was it?

Add this to the huge fire I saw while coming home the other night from a lovely Saturday. A huge McMansion burned about two miles from my house, and I saw it when I was driving down the hill in Wauregan (about 3 miles from the fire).

And that was my lovely Saturday. I came home and watched The Village (zip it....all of you...though I finally saw Scary Movie 4 where they make fun of it XD "Come Ezekiel, shall we have a foot race?")

Sunday's flea market day was a bit slow, so I think I'm going to bow out of there either this weekend or next (probably next weekend). I've had a great time during my 5 months there, but now I want to shift my focus, at least till the good weather is over.

Monday I went out looking for sea glass, for the first time in almost a month (because of the car problems, and now the price of gas is keeping me away as well...). I went to my two favorites and actually didn't find much. At Narragansett I found a huge bottom of a bottle or a jar, which is embossed "E.B. Co. Ld. 10710".

At Scarborough, I walked out a bit farther than normal and stumbled upon this odd concrete retaining wall, and at the back of it was a 1970's bottle dump...though everything's smashed to bits, against this wall. I found fragments which read "Liquor Bottle" and the bottom of a glass Sprite 2 liter. When I worked at Soda Warehouse (5 longggggg years ago...though pretty soon if I don't get a job I might go try going back there), someone actually thought they could get the redemption on one of those. (No, because the distributor who picks up the empties would not pick up something like that...so my boss put the bottle on his shelf along with other very old bottles people would bring back).

Total sea glass finds for the day; 158 pieces.

Tuesday was a bit of a waste...

Yesterday, after dropping off 3 boxes of magazines for recycling, I drove to Moosup so I could go for a walk in the shade. I decided to go to the place with the crystals, and when I got there I wanted to walk on the bridge (near the mill) to look at the river.

But while I was looking along the river banks, aqua shards of glass caught my eye. Now some of you can tell how badly I've been wanting to get out there and dig bottles like my mom and I used to back in 1996-1998...and when I spotted those shards I knew that might mean bottle dump. (These photos are like a reenactment...lol...the angle of the sun was different and they really popped).

So I madly went right down the riverbank, almost on my butt. It was a pretty steep incline.

There wasn't much down there that wasn't broken, and I scrambled back up the bank after about 15 minutes.

But!!!!!! I had plans to return today.
Obligatory car shot!

The fenced off remains of a building? Maybe?

So I stumbled upon this while poking around, looking for an easier way down the bank without sliding on my butt. Bottle dump..finally!
Too bad the lip on this one was busted. SAWYERS CRYSTAL BLUE INC. I took it home anyway.

Lots of plain, unembossed screw-top bottles. This dump's age varies a bit. And this bottle (below) was sitting right on top. Now I want to see one of these whole! lol

HENRY K. WAMPOLE & COMPANY. Whole. Sitting at a base of a tree.

A button!

The whole finds from yesterday & today.

The almost, but not quite whole finds from yesterday & today (that cobalt blue had me...oh..it was sitting right on the edge of the riverbank looking nice and whole...turned it over and there's a big crack. Bottles: 1 Megan: 0)

AND THE BROKEN MESS that I took home anyway.

Hustle

So yesterday was almost my last day at the Flea Market. The jeep broke down on Friday and we can't afford to keep fixing it...

...

Not to mention the fiasco with the saab, which I won't get into but there's a problem and I actually haven't been able to register it yet because of this problem...which will hopefully be resolved in a few weeks (SOONER WOULD BE NICE). I had to borrow my grandfather's truck this weekend because of all the problems.

The good news is that I'm hoarding sterling silver junk jewelry and junk gold like crazy, or at least trying to. And copper too. If you knew what metal was going for, you'd hoard too. I mean, I just sold a 10K gold ring for $33, which paid for this week's groceries.

Anyway, I had a good weekend at the flea market, which enables me to stay hopefully through the end of April (I'm planning to get out of there by the summer, and possibly return in the fall).

I have an interview with the post office tomorrow...wish me luck that I land this one! $17.98 per hour!

I've perked up in the past couple days, which is good because I was getting pretty sick of myself, moping around the house because I couldn't drive my saab. At least now I have wheels again (temporary, but wheels!)...and I need all this car crap to resolve itself NOW because I'm fed up with it. I mean...enough is enough already.

And is this a bad thing to say that I can't wait till my neighbors go back to rehab or go to jail? It was so nice without them around for those few months they were locked up. lol

More rare than red sea glass...

After this, my mom is hooked.

Remember that piece of sea glass that I said I was dying to get under a black light? IT GLOWS. omg. omgomgomgomg. Now I want to get back to that beach ASAP. According to this site, Vaseline sea glass is even more rare than red sea glass. omg. It doesn't glow as bright as his samples, but it glows a lot more than any other suspected Vaseline glass we had (a few yellowish-green plates which Mom was using under her house plants...), which didn't glow at all. It glows a lot brighter when wet ^_^.

I was going to go back to that beach in hopes to find more after Ramy went to work today, but then it started really pouring and I got busy making jewelry for tomorrow. I don't have much time to set up at the flea market in the mornings before people get there (like I'll be running on time tomorrow morning missing an hour's worth of sleep, right) and I would like to be able to set some clock hand earrings out for the people who come and go before 9. I made a couple new kinds of experimental earrings and pendants out of large watch springs from deconstructed pocket watches.

The paint isn't quite sticking to my secret beads, as I learned today when I went to pick one up. This is a disappointing setback, but hopefully they will dry soon.

I picked up a couple of cool things from some indoor yardsales...one of which appeared to be a school project miniature guillotine, complete with a razor blade. I would have taken pictures of it but we left all the yardsale finds in the car since they're just going to the flea market anyway tomorrow. It's a conversation piece, for sure. We also picked up a really nifty candle holder for our porch picnic table made out of glass ashtrays. One yardsale we went to was in the bottom level of a 3-story chicken coop; the chickens were upstairs and the people were chain smoking so it smelled terrible and we didn't stay too long. There were some awesome things in there but we couldn't breathe normally. lol.

Flea market tomorrow, beach MONDAY! Back to making jewelry, or making a mess...

Sea Glass & Shipwreck Pottery

Whilst bouncing around Etsy today, I came across a shop that features sea glass & shipwreck pottery. And after looking at every item in their shop, I want to go to the beach. Right. Now.

I'm going to make myself some coffee instead. I have a lot of magazines to go through. Right now my sort piles are as follows:

-Craft magazines & stuff I want
-Stuff to research for eBay
-Books to donate to Salvation Army (3 boxes donated yesterday)
-Stuff to go back to the flea market

-Craft magazines I don't want

I really would like to make all the craft magazines I don't want available to the crafters and artisans in the Etsy community, but I'm unsure as to how to go about it.

I snagged a book learning crochet basics. I have no idea why I want to try this. I'm a person that doesn't like super long projects, and I can't imagine knitting an afghan...but little things like crochet flower pins and cool things like that. What's wrong with me? lol.

I still think it's completely ironic that I have made dozens of pairs of earrings, yet I don't have pierced ears. Of course I've made some clip ons (custom) and a pair for myself, but the ones I made for etsy haven't sold yet. But still...I make TONS of earrings. And I can't wear any of them. (Maybe that's a good thing?)

Can't believe it's Wednesday already. Where is the week going?

Let's ROCK!!!!!

Ok, so whatever fluke bug thing I had yesterday is now gone

Here's my flea market booth!

Saturday, March 1, 2008

Ew, ew ew ew.

I've thrown up 6 times this morning, so far. I've been up since 5:15 because I couldn't sleep and I was in a lot of pain when I woke up, like a pins & needles feeling in my stomach with a really bad headache. I threw up 3 times at 6:45 and 3 times again about 10 minutes ago.

I really want to just go back to bed, but I'm staying at the computer because it's 20 feet from the porcelain shrine and my bed is down a flight of stairs and across the house.

Before you ask. I highly doubt I'm pregnant. lol. I think it was something I ate yesterday because in the madness that was running around and doing errands, I only ate one "meal" which was egg salad, and some combos I found on top of the fridge. The bag wasn't open, but it wasn't expired either...still, I don't really know how old it was. I thought it was left over snacks from November, but the more I think about it, it could have been left over snacks from my 23rd birthday party/sleepover at Tucker's. I'm 24 now. lol.

And then I didn't eat anything before running off to the auction, where I dropped $15 on 25 boxes of books and magazines. I thought there were supposed to be some craft supplies in there somewhere, but when I was poking around I couldn't find any. (I bought it sight unseen, basically). I'll be lucky if I can make my $15 back. lol

I bought a couple other things, a lamp that needs fixing for $3, a marble plant stand that I'm going to sell, and some other crap. We'll see what I can do with it, but there were about 115 people at the auction and deals went fast. I missed many of the good ones, but there's always good deals there so better luck next time, right?

I was supposed to head to the area's first and largest yardsale this morning, but I'm not going anywhere. Besides, we had a snow storm last night and it's still snowing now, so I don't think there is a yardsale. And I really, really feel like hell.

Theme for LEAP DAY!

Name of the car: Lunatic Sophie. That way it's still Sophie Saab but now Luna's name is incorporated into it, thanks to Torann, who left the first comment on this blog!

Today is Leap Day. I'm so excited! I'm going to the auction in Jewett City tonight, I know it's supposed to snow but maybe that means less people will show up and I can get some great bargains! I had my biggest sale ever on Etsy last night, which has me wicked pumped and makes me think that I'm going in the right direction by finding & buying rare vintage fabrics and supplies. The fabric sat on Etsy for about two weeks, but then one person came and bought almost all of it. I knew it was a good idea! Now I just have to keep plugging away!

I love to find things and bring them to others. Flo, who is the woman I bought the fabric from, has had the fabric sitting in her flea market booth for about 20 years. Little old ladies come and buy from flo, but they're looking for plain fabrics and not something that's so obviously out-dated. There's a niche market for vintage fabrics, and if I learned anything from Justin, it's that niche markets do so well on the internet--that's exactly what he said to me during my second interview before I started working there two years ago tomorrow. I mean, Yankee Retail IS a successful company. There are reasons for that. Hard to believe it's been two years since I got that job, and over nine months since I left it. If Jeff wanted to hire me back tomorrow, I'd reconsider at least part time because work is work. Ocean State Job Lot might hire me part time till summer, then full time. That's exciting, because I do half of my grocery shopping there (dry & canned goods) and I could use an employee discount. The economy is bad. Ocean State is cheaper than Walmart. (Yes, really.)

Anyway. Flo. She's the one with the treasure trove, not me. I help her find her register keys and that ever-so-elusive-ribbon that she cut 2 hours ago and lost as soon as she put it down. She thinks my name is Monica or Nicole, but that's ok. Ten years ago, my cat's name was Monica and my neighbor's name was Nicole, so she's close. I can't really make much of a profit from the vintage buttons she sells, but I do pick through and buy the unique ones.

As for the flea market, I bought this awesome Arabian puppet thing. I wish I had pictures because it's so neat. I love doing the designing for the booth because it's bright, colorful, cool, and people have to stop and look when they walk by. It's so cool, I get compliments every week and sometimes even a little cash! lol. I'm thinking of putting together a photobook of the pictures I've taken in there over the past 3 years, because I've taken so many and I really think the vendors would enjoy possibly seeing items they've sold years ago brought back to them in this format. Takes up less space.

Here's a quick look at pictures taken in there (whatever I already had in my photobucket account, lol)

Glassware, February 13, 2005

Me, Josh, Nick, and Leash, February 13, 2005And this mirror is STILL for sale, 3 years later!

Mannequin, January 7, 2007

This was the day I bought my mannequin head, the inspiration for Mannequin Reject (the zine!). February 20, 2005.

LOL Ho Trains. December 17 (?), 2006.

It's so strange looking through these pictures. At the time I never thought I'd become part of this tight-knit flea market community. Really, some people have had booths in here for months or weeks and never become a part of it, but I've had the booth almost three months and no one wants me to ever leave. I look forward to every Sunday. I just feel so good about it. :)

Auction tonight. I haven't gone in over a month and I just miss seeing that same community! (Really, all the same people go to the auction who have booths in the flea market...) I have an empty, spacious, clean car to fill. (Not much money to fill it...)

I found out yesterday that I haven't written in my paper journal since Jan.31. I haven't had a gap like this since Uncle Larry died, and that was only a 20 day gap that I spent 5 hours typing to catch up. I just can't believe that I spent so much time this month on paperwork and all that process that goes with it to take care of the accident and the Grand Am, not to mention making over 30 pairs of earrings and working so hard to promote my etsy shop. I really thought floating around the forums was beginning to become a waste of time until I saw that fabric order. I think I really stopped breathing for a moment. lol

To do list for today, or the future:
-Mail fabric to customer.
-Stop at Ocean State and bug manager for job, again.
-Write in paper journal (finish, only 16 pages left!)

-AUCTION
-Paint secret beads that I made a few days ago and am dying to put on Etsy.
-TAXES.
-Clean extra stuff from car to mail back to former owner, like his flip flops.
-Price spark plugs & wires and call mechanic about tune up (the only thing that car needs! sweet).
-Call insurance company to find out if the lien holder on the Grand Am is cooperating with them yet (don't even get me started! This has been such a fiasco that I'll never finance through Sovereign Bank ever again! Geico is willing to pay, aren't they happy they'll be getting the FULL amount I owed on the car?!?!?!?!?!!?! Especially in a time when everyone and their uncle is defaulting on loans? saflkdjshlfkjasdhf!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!)
-Domesticky thingies, like dishes and laundry.

-sigh- I. want. paperwork. over. with. I don't even have the car anymore, geico took it the same day I got the Saab. And there's a mini-fiasco with the DMV and the Saab because silly me forgot there's this thing called a TITLE, that all cars newer than 1981 need in order to be registered (in this state). I wanted to mail this guy's plates back to him yesterday so there's no question about who this car really belongs to if, God forbid, I get pulled over.

Busy busy busy.

Coming to a ________ show near you!

I'm still without wheels. I hope to head to Boston tonight and buy a cheap Saab. Once I have wheels, oh man, watch out...I might get a job. lol.

Anyway, I had an interview at Ocean State Job Lot yesterday. Part time till April, then full time. That's ok, I just need something to pay bills. I'd be so happy with that because I'd have time to make a real go of Etsy, the Flea Market, and still have some kind of income security. And Ocean State is not Walmart. And I do half my grocery shopping there (hello employee discount!)

SO...that's that.

In other news, I've been going crazy experimenting with wire, polymer clay, paints, and God knows what else. I was up at 11:00 last night smoking up the kitchen and baking beads (what kind of beads? I'm not saying till they're for sale!)

I'm also starting to embark on a set of weather-inspired jewelry, after recently watching a well-known weather movie. But I won't say which one till my jewelry's for sale.

The painting experiment went fairly well, which I worked on for two days last week and might work again this week depending on if I have the time and if it warms up...because I can't air out all those fumes and probably killed a vast amount of brain cells creating three boxes. One large box and two trinket boxes for Etsy.

See?

I'm going to start looking for local craft fairs to sell my stuff in :D.
